On October 31, 2017 Kristin Garrett Montgomery joined Children’s Legal Services of San Diego (CLSSD) as the Chief Operating Officer. Kristin has spent the past 20 years working to improve the health of San Diego’s most vulnerable populations. In her new venture, Garrett is applying her passion for advocacy to a specific vulnerable population - children in foster care. “CLSSD provides the court-appointed representation to all the youth in the county’s dependency program. I am excited to join the team to help grow this new non-profit organization and to create new partnerships within our community.”
Garrett’s career commenced in a dual role with the Hospital Association of San Diego & Imperial Counties (HASD&IC) and Community Health Improvement Partners (CHIP). She has previously served in various positions, including Director of Public Advocacy for HASD&IC and as the President & CEO of CHIP. Most recently, Garrett was the Associate Vice President for Molina Healthcare of California.
Kristin received a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Health Service Administration from San Diego State University, Graduate School of Public Health and her B.S. in Nutritional Science from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo. Kristin has been very involved in the community serving on Boards such as the San Diego Organization of Healthcare Leaders, Mental Health America, American Lung Association, and volunteered as a coach for the Fieldstone Non-profit Leadership Network.
Children's Legal Services of San Diego, Inc. is a nonprofit public benefit corporation, which provides legal representation to children and youth who are the subject of abuse and neglect proceedings in the San Diego County juvenile dependency court system.
