Cy Pres Awards
Cy pres is a legal doctrine that allows courts to distribute unclaimed, undistributed, or residual settlement funds to nonprofit organizations whose work aligns with the interests of the affected class or advances the public good.
Cy pres awards provide vital support for the work of Children's Legal Services of San Diego (CLSSD), protecting the rights, safety, and well-being of children and families involved in the dependency court system.
By designating CLSSD as a cy pres recipient, you help ensure that vulnerable children have access to safety, stability, permanency, family connections, and meaningful access to justice. These funds enable us to continue providing critical legal advocacy and support to children and families throughout San Diego County.
We invite attorneys, settlement administrators, and courts to consider Children's Legal Services of San Diego as a cy pres recipient and to add CLSSD to their list of eligible organizations for future cy pres distributions.
